Fitnook ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Fitnook mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile information you choose to provide.

Health & Fitness Data

With your explicit permission, we access health and fitness data from Apple HealthKit and Android Health Connect, including but not limited to: steps, heart rate, sleep data, distance, calories burned, weight, and exercise sessions. This data is used solely to provide fitness tracking features within the app.

Device Information

We collect device identifiers, operating system version, and push notification tokens to deliver app functionality and notifications.

Photos & Camera

If you grant permission, we access your camera and photo library to allow you to upload profile pictures and share photos within the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our Service
  • Track and display your fitness progress
  • Power gamification features such as XP, badges, and leaderboards
  • Send push notifications you have opted in to
  • Respond to support requests
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

4. Health Data

We treat health and fitness data with the highest level of care:

  • Health data is never sold to third parties, advertising platforms, or data brokers.
  • Health data is never used for advertising or marketing purposes.
  • Health data is only shared with third parties when strictly necessary to provide the Service (e.g., secure cloud hosting) and under contractual obligations to protect it.
  • You can revoke health data access at any time through your device's Health settings.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We may share non-health information with the following categories of third parties:

  • Cloud infrastructure providers — to host and operate the Service
  • Analytics services — to understand usage patterns and improve the app (e.g., Sentry for error tracking)
  • Push notification services — to deliver notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
